Definitions

* Note: The high arctic plant is short, the southern plant taller.

* Stem: From thick root, to 12",  one to several.

* Flower: June to early July.  White, in terminal cluster that elongates in age.

* Leaves: Basal leaves on long stems, egg shaped coming to a point, becoming narrower up the stem, alternate.  Stem leaves lance shaped, upper ones with no stem (sessile). 

* Habitat: Moist places in mountains.
